Rockhampton on front foot to fill future jobs

Rockhampton Regional Council has launched a campaign to secure and retain critical workers for the region.

Live Rockhampton is designed to help support local business, industry and organisations to attract workers by promoting the area’s lifestyle and job opportunities

“We know that the job market is a real competition at the moment and that attracting and retaining workers is a big challenge for local business and industry,” Rockhampton Mayor Tony Williams said.

“That’s why we’ve developed Live Rockhampton – to give our region that boost and promote the great benefits we know and love across the state and nation.  If someone’s relocating their whole life, they need a clear picture of the place and be able to imagine living there.

Live Rockhampton showcases our parks and gardens, our natural destinations, our tourist attractions and arts and culture precincts. It showcases our dining offerings and the very best of what we have to offer.

“Likewise, it promotes our well-paid and secure jobs, work-life balance and housing affordability to potential workers outside the region.

“We know that we’re in a race to secure workers against many of the other regions like Gladstone, Mackay and Townsville; and Live Rockhampton is a tool for business and council alike to say ‘come and live in Rocky and frankly live better’.”

Developed by council and Advance Rockhampton, the Live Rockhampton campaign includes:

  • A dedicated website to inform and inspire new and prospective residents containing more than 30 pages of information spanning topics from housing and healthcare, to parks and vet clinics
  • Monthly blogs answering common questions from new and prospective residents
  • An extensive Business Toolkit which can be utilised for recruitment purposes and includes images, videos, e-booklets, social tiles, email banners
  • Printed booklets for employers to give to staff who have moved from out-of-region
  • A ‘Speak to a Local’ function to assist new and prospective residents
  • Paid advertising across multiple digital platforms
  • Ongoing engagements with key employers in the region to support their use of the campaign in recruitment and onboarding
