Constant renewal the key to continuity by NSS GM Mark George

Northern Stevedoring Services’ effort to maintain our position as North Queensland’s leading integrated import, export and logistics provider means constant renewal.

A good example of that is how we are working with our owners to collaborate on improving our logistics offer.

Glencore is moving a team onto the lease at the Port of Townsville and will work alongside NSS and our co-owner, Qube Holdings, to make the current service more effective and increase flow.

In short, what is exported will be done more efficiently. We also aim to increase imports through the port. The result is greater economic activity for North Queensland.

Renewal also means investment and NSS has never been scared to invest in regional Queensland.

We’ve proven that over the years by investing in our mobile harbour cranes, into our warehousing facilities and our bulk storage facility, among others. When we do make those investments, they are long-term into quality equipment.

That continuous capability is key because in the logistics-chain, time is money and we can’t have our equipment break down on us without redundancy or without the ability to fix it quickly.

Our greatest investment is into our people and making sure they have the skills needed to maintain continuity.
