Ten months into the job as NSS Accounts Payable Officer and Dante Stillitano is confident he didn’t need to leave north Queensland to expand his horizons, only his last job.
The variety was the first surprise. When the weather turned at the start of the year and the ‘all hands on deck’ call came in Dante found himself discharging cars dockside.
“So that was a big eye opener to see that side of the work. I did one shift as a stevedore and got to work putting cars on the ship.”
Dante worked for three years prior to joining the business in hospitality and while it presented some life experience, NSS had provided him with more purpose he said.
His work managing the flow of invoices and acting as the daily connection with the public is integral in the efficient running of the business. The NSS emphasis on client outcomes and management of many working parts represented a step up in professionalism, Dante said.
“Being the youngest one and just having everyone else as mentors that have so much more experience than me, I just learn from them.”
