The Dolphins NRL team took the opportunity to have a footy day with the Biloela Panthers as well as visiting Moura, Banana and Biloela schools with a visit to Anglo American’s Dawson coal mine recently.

Feedback after the team’s visit to site was positive said Dawson Mine HR manager Ben Leis.
“The players have taken the time to introduce themselves, they’ve managed to get themselves up into the trucks alongside our operators, just talking about what their normal day looks like, what they get to do on a regular basis, just talking about why they do what they do,” he said.
He emphasised the benefits of having athletes at this level visiting local communities, said Mr Leis.
“The connections that are created through sport in communities like us and an industry like us is one of the things that keep these communities together and keeps it ticking,” he said.
“So, that kind of experience and the players taking the time to visit the kids at school, talk about what they do just reinforces it.”
Anglo American signed up as the team’s premier partner from 2024, also acting as the club’s official mining partner and a community partner.
The Dolphins’ claim a geographical footprint extending from Brisbane’s northern corridor, to the Sunshine Coast and up into Central Queensland regions where Anglo American’s five steelmaking coal mines are located.
