Stop for Safety Rollout

There was a renewed focus on safety at NSS operations in Townsville, Mackay and Gladstone in December.

The Stop for Safety Campaign was rolled out over two days as we continue to prioritise workplace safety.

The first event was held at the Gearlocker in Townsville for the Stevedore, Maintenance, Lines and Mooring and Terminal staff.

The second event was held at the Port Logistic Yard for our port logistics workers, transport team and head office staff.

Both were delivered by General Manager Mark George.

The third event was organised for the Thursday for those who could otherwise not take part.

This campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of identifying and reporting hazards in the workplace.

A toolbox talk, a goodie bag and some good food helped ensure everyone left feeling motivated and equipped with the knowledge to help create a safer working environment.

NSS’ new Port Logistics Officer Joesph Woods won the Stop for Safety Spot the Hazard competition and walked away for a $200 gift card.

Learning resources include are available here.

“We believe that safety is everyone’s responsibility and were excited to bring our team together to make a positive impact”, said Mark George.
